Spicy Garlic Arrabbiata Sauce

What you need

6 fresh garlic

2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
56 oz fresh tomatoes

3 tsp crushed red pepper

1 tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper
¼ cup dried basil

¼ cup fresh basil
Instructions
1 Place 2 tablespoons of butter into a large deep skillet and place over medium heat 2 Once the butter has melted, add 1 medium diced yellow onion and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the onion has softened and begins to turn translucent 3 Add 6 large minced garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring consistently 4 Add 56 ounces of crushed tomatoes, mix to combine and bring to a low simmer 5 Do not cover the skillet tightly, but a splatter guard is highly recommend for easily cleanup later 6 Simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally 7 Once thickened, reduce the heat to low and add 1/4 cup of dehydrated basil, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper and stir to combine 8 Taste to see if additional crushed red pepper flakes, salt or black pepper is necessary 9 Add 1/4 cup of fresh basil and remove from the heat 10 Use immediately or transfer to an airtight container and chill until ready to useView original recipe
